This is what comes to my mind when I think about Munnar. Known as ‘God’s own country’, Munnar is a breathtakingly beautiful hill station set at an altitude of 6000ft in the Idukki district of Kerala. The picture-perfect town, with its winding lanes and the serenity of its tea gardens makes Munnar the most sought hill station in South India.

1. Echo Point
Echo Point is one of the best places to visit in Munnar. The famous Echo Point is located 15 kilometers from Munnar, at a height of 600 feet above sea level. When you shout, your voice will bounce back to you as an echo at Echo Point, which is known for its natural echo phenomena. Echo Point, which is located along the banks of the beautiful Kundala Lake, is surrounded by misty clouds, hills, verdant meadows, and woodlands, making a visit to this scenic location even more exciting.
2. Attukad Waterfalls
Munnar, the ethereally gorgeous hill resort in Kerala’s “God’s Own Country,” is also home to some of the Western Ghats Mountains’ most lively waterfalls. Whether you are a free spirit, nature photographer, birder, or simply a vacationer in the Nilgiri region of Kerala, a visit to the legendary mountain springs near Munnar, one of which is the Atukkad Falls, is a must.
The Attukad Falls, which cascade down roaringly in the mountainous Idukki area on the road from Munnar to Pallivasal, is a wonderful site to stop by. As far as the eye can see, there is plentiful greenery and a resounding tranquilly found in the middle of unsplit nature.
3. Top Station
Top Station, about 32 kilometres from Munnar, known as the “Kashmir of South India,” is a sight to behold! It is Munnar’s highest point, and its name comes from the Kundala Valley’s uppermost railway station, the ruins of which may still be seen from the Munnar Tea Museum.
The 5500-feet-high destination provides a serene vantage point for sweeping views of the Western Ghats and the lovely Theni Valley in Tamil Nadu. You nearly feel like you can reach out and touch the clouds as you reach the top, making this position really ‘Heaven on Earth’! Top Station is particularly known for its rich flora and the Neelakurinji flowers, which bloom once every twelve years and give the destination a blush blue, bright appearance.
4. Devikulam
This is a small hill station in Kerala’s Idukki district, with cool air, lush green slopes, and low-hanging clouds over the peaks. Devikulam offers a diverse range of waterfalls and lakes to explore. Make a pilgrimage to Sita Devi Lake, which is supposed to have healing properties.
5.Chokramudi Peak
This lonely hilltop ridge is a site that will keep you engrossed for hours. Chokramudi is located in the Eravikulam National Park at a height of 7,200 feet above sea level. It’s a short and easy hike that can be completed in a day, and it’s hidden by the lush green Shola forest because it’s in the national forest.
The hike begins in Pthamedu, about an hour’s drive from Munnar, and lasts 4 to 5 hours, covering a distance of 10 to 15 kilometers. It is considered as one of the best places to visit in Munnar. If you go early in the morning, you may see the flaming dawn and herds of Nilgiri Tahr departing for cattle while soaking in the pure air at the summit.
